Lunch by the Cherwell - Mon, Aug 18
Started the day with an appointment at the bank to open a UK bank account and apply for a Debit Card. Only the US uses credit/debit cards requiring signatures! Everywhere else seems to use cards with an imbedded chip and you have a pin number. So when you make a purchase/pay for a meal, they bring the card machine to you, insert your card, enter the purchase amount and give the machine to you. You enter your Pin, hand the machine back and they print your receipt to give to you with your card. Thus the card never leaves your sight. Brilliant!
On the way back we purchased some baguette sandwiches to eat down by the River Cherwell (part of the Thames). We love visiting and eating at this location. There is a bend in the river here and it's always such fun watching the amateur punters trying to navigate thru the bend.
As we walked back from the river we saw the long horn cattle grazing in Christ Church meadow next to the fence so we took some wonderful pictures and video. At least when we've walked through pastures near and thru the cows, they have not had horns!
