Macbeth - Day 15 - Wed, Aug 27th
We'd purchased tickets to see Macbeth, presented by Creation Theatre The venue? The Gardens of Lady Margaret Hall - one of the campuses that make up the University of Oxford. It was a short 1.3 miles walk down Botley Road.
Seating was at round tables - a small audience - with the main "stage" up a 2' hill. During the performance they used the entire space in front of us including the doorways into the hall, sometimes leaning out the upstairs windows and on the roof. They'd taken some poetic license and used military costuming from WW1 to make it more modern.
Play started at 7:30pm and ended at 10pm so it was also interesting to watch as dusk hit, then darkness. They had wonderful lighting and a fantastic sound system. Overall a fantastic performance and a unique experience.
